Emboldened by CM's statement, Karra hits out at New Delhi yet again | 'Delay in package adding to alienation, denting Govt's credibility' | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 15: Two days after the Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed covertly and in a discreet manner hit out at delay in Central package for the State, PDP's veteran leader and MP Tariq Hamid Karra took a dig at the Centre contending that this attitude of New Delhi was not only increasing the alienation of masses but also denting the credibility of the alliance Government in J&K. Known for making bold, loud and straight statements, Karra minced no words in likening delay in granting the much awaited package to truancy of centre which he said is only giving rhetorical assurances. He based his criticism on the fact that cynicism is mounting among people over what he chose to term as 'bigoted' attitude of the Government of India towards flood affected state and its people. The PDP MP in his elaborate statement used choicest yet hard hitting expressions against New Delhi unlike Muzaffar Baig who is also MP of the party and has maintained silence over this issue as of now. Karra's statement issued today assumes significance in many ways but it is actually seen in the light of the statement made by the party patron and CM two days back at Anantnag convention. Mufti Sayeed all these months remained silent over the issue and perhaps for the first time spoke about it, albeit in a veiled attack against centre. While he praised sagacity of PM Narendra Modi in understanding the pain of J&K, he also made an oblique reference about how the State, flood victims in particular were suffering due to delay in Central package . In a discreet manner he said he would 'not go with a bowl to Centre…', something which the insiders in the party are viewing more like a warning note to Centre. They are also looking upon the statement by Karra as a follow up of CM's assertion which assumes quite a significance at the political level. It may be recalled that Karra was the first person to make a bold statement months ago in asserting that PDP must revisit its decision to form coalition Government in alliance with BJP, a party diagonally opposed to its ideology. In the statement today he has once again hit out at Centre in what he unhesitantly terms as prejudiced policies towards Kashmir which has resulted in inherent mistrust of Kashmiris towards New Delhi. |
