"Do you sincerely want mortal remains of Yusuf Chak?" | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 21: At a time when the Kashmir based political parties have toned down their politics over Afzal Guru and the demand on mortal remains which was loud until a year back has somewhat quietened in the political corridors, a Valley politician has stirred up a hornet's nest again, this time cornering the ruling party PDP. A day after the government declared that it would initiate a process to bring back mortal remains of Kashmir's last ruler Yusuf Shah Chak, PDF president has hit back with an equally strong political punch questioning the coalition government's policy on getting back mortal remains of Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat. Yasin, an ex minister and legislator at present, taking dig at PDP lauded the move, albeit in a sarcastic manner. Apart from NC, PDP too has been on the forefront of raking up this demand, at least for Guru after he was hanged two years back. "It is a good decision that the PDP government has initiated a process to get back the mortal remains of Chak but what about the mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru?" Yasin said in a statement issued today. The PDF chief also hit at the ruling party on more front, which even though sounds more like a rhetoric yet loaded with historical substance. He asked the PDP government to make its policy clear what its stand was on independent Kashmir. "During the era of Yusuf Shah Chak whole Jammu and Kashmir was an independent country. Only bringing back the mortal remains of Chak isn't enough. Is PDP serious enough to restore the position of Jammu and Kashmir to Chak era?" Hakim Yasin asked. |
