Poonch, Oct 12: Provincial Youth National Conference President Jammu Ajaz Jan criticized the PDP MLAs for not highlighting the plight of border dwellers, especially those who suffered near Line of Control in the Poonch district, during just concluded autumn session of the Legislative Assembly, saying they have braved the brunt of shelling from across the border but nobody from the government came to their rescue at the hour of need. Welcoming prominent PDP activist of the area Qazi Farooq and his associates in the National Conference fold at a function here this afternoon, Jan said the suffering border dwellers don't only need care and compassion but immediate assistance to settle down ahead of the ensuing winter. Congratulating those who joined the party fold, Jan said this will further the party which has stood by the side of people all along further and help in mitigating their problems by highlighting these at appropriate forums. He appreciated the youth for their wise decision, saying a great role has cast upon the young people to meet the challenges confronted to the State, especially in the wake of policies being adopted by the PDP-BJP coalition government. "These can be met by maintaining unity and preserving the age-old communal amity”, he maintained. The Provincial Youth National Conference President said National Conference has all along provided a huge space to youth, which is why it is still known as a youth movement that has withstood vicissitudes of history and test of times. "Now that the State is at the cross roads of history with self seekers and anti-people elements presiding over its destiny, the youth have to change the discourse", he maintained. Those who spoke on the occasion included Bag Hussain Rathoor Block President, Ishaq Khan, Ilyas Malik, Manzoor Mir, Bashir Bajran, Saleem Khari, Abdul Jabar Tantary, Ch Khalid, Shafeeq Baba, and others. They congratulated the new entrants for their sagacious decision, saying National Conference alone can steer the people from the morass put in by the coalition dispensation. |
