LAHDC polls: BJP rethinks its strategy after party gets hopeless feedback | Leaders with doubtful credentials managing all affairs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 12: After getting a hopeless feedback about the coming elections of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), the shell-shocked BJP has reportedly approached high-command for some assistance to at-least get some respectable seats in the autonomous body of this cold desert. BJP, which was earlier, claiming to unseat Congress from LAHDC, is now struggling to get respectable seats to save the skin. Those who have been campaigning in Leh are reportedly failed to create atmosphere for the party. Some BJP leaders, who have been deputed by the party leadership at Leh, are known in the party circle for minting money during every election. And shockingly this time party has again deputed them to Leh to manage elections for the LAHDC despite the fact that these leaders are not much expert in managing elections in such mountainous region. Credible sources in the BJP said that instead of handing resources of the Ladakhi leaders, who are known for their integrity and honesty, some Jammu based leaders who have questionable credentials, are camping at Leh and managing all resources. Credible sources said that fearing defeat in the elections, BJP leadership has now sought assistance from the high-command to manage elections. And secondly, some organisational men, who are known for the organisational skills and honesty, are asked to rush to Leh the get the things done. These leaders are asked to try to compensate as much as loss the party has received so far during the last 15 days. Before announcement of LAHDC elections, BJP had donated an amount of Rs 1.10 crore for the rehabilitation of families affected by cloudburst and floods in Ladakh region in the month of August this year. This amount would be donated by the eight members of the Legislative Council along with only Rajya Sabha member of the party and one woman nominated MLA of the party from their respective Constituency Development Funds (CDFs). In last LAHDC elections, which were held in 2010, BJP had won only four seats and Congress had won 20 seats. |
