3 senior Legislators walk out of SKICC meeting in 'protest' | PDP-BJP Govt faces fresh doze of opposition anger | | ET Report SRINAGAR, Oct 12: PDP-BJP Government today faced a fresh doze of opposition anger when three senior legislators from different parties walked out of a scheduled meeting in protest against what the trio termed as 'non serious' approach of the alliance Government and 'intolerance' towards the opposition. Even as the Principal Secretary of the Chief Minister BB Vyas apologized and tried to persuade the leaders to attend the meeting, all the three left the venue on a resentful note. Sources said a kind of high drama was witnessed today afternoon at high profiled SKICC where the Government had convened a meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed when three MLAs, two of them ex Ministers Mohammad Akbar Lone of NC, Hakim Mohammad Yasin of PDF and Azgar Karbalai of Congress walked out of the meeting hall over 'inadequate' arrangements and lack of proper seating arrangement in place for them as invitees of the Government, which they said was a reflection that latter has no respect for the opposition nor seriousness to address the matters. Sources said the three MLAs from opposition parties were invited by the Government to participate in the meeting which was convened to discuss the arrangements for forthcoming Moharram festival, all the three being legislators from the constituencies which has sizable population of Shia community in their respective areas. Besides some Ministers, Divisional Commissioner, DC, DGP and high level administrative authorities had converged to attend the meeting, sources said. The three leaders from the opposition arrived ahead of the Chief Minister at the venue, sources said, adding that they got annoyed to see there were no seats earmarked nor any name plates in place for them whereas these things were in place for Ministers, administration and police officers. Sources said while they waited for things to settle for sometime, they chose to walkout even though BB Vyas and other officers assured proper seats for them. They were seen lamenting the arrangements of the Government and accusing the latter of having no capacity to take opposition on board in a respectful manner. |
