Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 12: Crime Branch (CB), Jammu, today registered an FIR against cop Manzoor Ahmed for allegedly taking money from a Special Police Officer (SPO) for getting his services regularised as a cop or a follower. According to CB, on the basis of a complaint forwarded by IG Railways, departmental inquiry was conducted by SP Railways, Kashmir, and it was found that cop Manzoor Ahmed (No 747/GRPK), who was residing in a rented room at Bhagwati Nagar here introduced himself to one Jewan Lal, son of Om Parkash of Bhatpora Lopara, Dachan, in Kishtwar as driver of IGP, Jammu zone, and asked him to pay an amount of Rs 55,000 for the treatment of his mother and later on when Jewan demanded the money back, he, instead of returning his money, asked him to pay him some more money in lieu of which he would use his influence to convert him from SPO to follower/constable. Manzoor also provided him an account No 3154 of J&K Bank branch Rajpora Pulwama existing in the name of one Reyaz Ahmed Wagay of Pulwama, Kashmir in which Jewan deposited Rs 25,000 for getting himself regularized as constable in J&K Police on being allured by said Manzoor, but no such order was passed. On making repeated demands regarding return of money, Manzoor delivered two defective cheques to Jewan Lal through different persons who were part of the criminal nexus but none of the cheques was honoured by the bank, as such, the matter was investigated. After completion of investigation, it transpired that Manzoor in connivance with Reyaz Ahmed Wagay and others allured and took an amount of Rs 80,000 from Jewan Lal through deceitful means by impersonating as the IGP's driver and ensuring him of his regularization as constable in J&K Police. However, after hot persuasion by Jewan, he again deceived him by delivering him two defective cheques through his accomplices which however, could not be encashed thereby cheating him of his hard earned money in sheer misuse of his official position to cause wrongful loss to Jewan and wrongful gains to himself and his accomplices and accordingly a case under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of RPC read with section 5(2) of P C Act Svt 2006 was registered.(JNF) |
