3-day JK Agricultural Science Congress begins at SKUAST-J | | | early times report Jammu, Oct 27: The 4th Jammu and Kashmir Agricultural Science Congress will begin at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) on Wednesday and deliberate on different dimensions of socio-economic farming, rural livelihood, climate resilience in agriculture, challenges in animal health, biotic and abiotic stresses with special reference to Jammu and Kashmir. The main theme of the agriculture congress is "Technological Innovations, Opportunities and Challenges for Sustainable Rainfed Agriculture for Food and Livelihood Security" Dr VK Wali, Chairman, Publicity Committee informed that we are expecting 400 to 500 research findings to be presented by individual participants during the three day deliberations. Lead lectures will be delivered by eminent scientists of the country in their respective fields of specialization. A large number of young buding scientists are expected to participate in the congress which will be inaugurated by Ghulam Nabi Lone, Minister for Agriculture Production at Conference Hall, Main Campus Chatha of SKUAST-Jammu. The details of the congress are available on University website www.skuast.org According to Dr. VK, Razdan, Organising Secretary, the congress will cover all the topics related to agriculture and allies sectors and shall broadly deliberate on the following subthemes: socio-economic dynamics of farming / rural livelihood, management of water / land resources, alternate farming system / farm diversification, technological innovations on crop / livestock management, climate resilience in agriculture, managing biotic / abiotic stresses, challenges / strategies in animal health and productivity. The Congress being orgainsed in collaboration with J&K State Council for Science & Technology. |
