MVD organises awareness programme | | | Early Times Report Samba, Oct 27: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) Samba today organized a 'Road Safety Awareness Programme' at Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Samba. This was the fourth programme during the month organized by MVD to sensitize the youth about the road safety awareness. MLA Samba, Dr Devinder Kumar Manyal was the chief guest on the occasion. During the function, Real life video clips about different road accident scenarios in Indian cities, presentations and symposium were presented. MLA Samba appreciated the drive launched by MVD Samba. He expressed his concern about frequently occurring fatal accidents in the state, especially on Jammu-Kathua National Highway. He asked the Traffic Police to stop vehicles for checking at proper place to avoid accidents. He assured ARTO Samba of financial assistance in conducting the drive. During the programme, ARTO Samba, Er Kuldeep Singh gave detailed power point presentation showing statistical data about the road accidents in the country, state as well as district Samba and strongly urged upon the students to become torch bearers of the road safety drive and be best road users. He cited the example of foreign countries where citizens respect laws but in our country an individual feels proud in breaking the law rather than obeying as good citizens of the country .About 80 percent of the accidents occur due to human error or driver fault. The programme was attended by Dy SP HQ Varinder Singh, Principal GGHSS Sunita Sambyal, MVI Madan Lal, DTI Traffic Yograj,Chairman KP HSS Varinder Slathia,Coordinator Anita Sambyal, teaching staff and students. |
