Frequent, prolonged power curtailments irk Udhampur people | | | Early Time Report Udhampur, Oct 27: Consumers across Udhampur district are having a hard time these days due to frequent and unscheduled power cuts especially in the Krimchi- Mansar area of Udhampur district. According to local reports, the residents of Krimchi-Mansar village in Tehsil and district Udhampur are facing problems due to acute shortage of power which results in further compounding their problems. Abdul Latif a local from area told Early Times that there are about 150 houses in this village with a population of over thousand people but the supply of electricity in this village is almost negligible. He also questioned if peoples pay the bill of electricity despite that they are deprived of the electricity in their area. Another local Rakesh Kumar said when PDD department installed the electrical meters in this village we were assured of 24 hours regular supply but after months have passed the things are still as they used to be in past. "Our area is metered and people are paying regular electricity bills; even then residents are subjected to unscheduled power cuts not only in the day time but also during night hour," lamented another resident of the locality. The locals urged the authorities to ensure proper supply of electricity as per the publicised schedule of the Power Development Department "failing which we will be compelled to hit streets". When contacted Assistant Engineer PDD, Anil Heraa said that curtailments are as per routine but if there is any unscheduled cut it is due to the technical snag in the transmission of power. He however assured that things will be sorted out soon
