Governor reviews implementation of National Food Security Act | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 4: Governor N.N. Vohra reviewed the progress of implementation of National Food Security Act 2013 in a meeting with Chief Secretary at the Raj Bhawan today. The Governor was informed that significant progress has been made in digitization and fidelity check by the Deputy Commissioners and more than 72 lakh entries have been uploaded on web portal in respect of Priority House Hold category who are entitled to receive highly subsidized rations @ Rs.2/- (Atta) and Rs.3/- (Rice) per kg. The Deputy Commissioners have already completed the entire work of fidelity check and the work regarding uploading the data on the national portal is now under progress. While the entries in respect of District Kupwara have also since been uploaded on national portal (www.pdsportal.nic.in) those in respect of Bandipora, Ganderbal, Shopian, Kulgam, Samba and Udhampur shall be uploaded by the 7th February. The Governor directed that the officials of CAPD Department and Deputy Commissioners should remain in complete readiness to start distribution of rations to the targeted population on NFSA rate, in accordance with the schedule already decided in the last review meeting with the Governor. Secretary CAPD informed that the NSFA provides for computerization/automation of the Fair Price Shops by installing electronic weighing scale, Point of Sale (POS) devices and bar code readers. Further, with a view to empower women, senior most female member of the family will be considered as head of family with entitlement to receive Food Security Allowance as per provisions of the Scheme. |
