Jammu, Feb 4 : Irrespective of their political affiliation, all the MLAs are on same page vis-à-vis Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir and this reveals the sense of insecurity as well as lust for power among the public representatives in democratic set up. Whether it is PDP, BJP, Congress or even National Conference, all the sitting legislators of the State Assembly are dreaming of their respective party forming next Government in Jammu and Kashmir even as the top leaders have some reservation over the same. While the BJP MLAs' desperation for Government formation is a well known fact, sources said that PDP MLAs are also eagerly waiting for the power notwithstanding Mehbooba Mufti's apparent tough postures and purported conditions set before the Central Government. These MLAs are apprehensive that a mid term poll would be disastrous for PDP and it would be very difficult for them to get elected again, sources further said. Even as PDP has the option to ally with Congress also for Government formation, sources said that majority of PDP MLAs are in favour of BJP as coalition partner for stability as well as durability. Coalition with Congress will have to survive on the support of individuals like Engineer Rashid thus posing a danger always on survival of the Government while BJP-led Centre would also leave no stone unturned to create troubles for such coalition, explained a former PDP minister and sitting MLA, on the condition of anonymity. As far as Congress is concerned, all the sitting MLAs as well as MLCs are learnt to have conveyed the party high command that if PDP was interested, the Congress should not shy away from formation of Government and sharing power in the State. This was made clear by the Congress legislators during recently held Core Group meeting as well their personal interaction with Ghulam Nabi Azad. Even as National Conference has so far maintained a silence over role of the party in Government formation, sources said that a number of NC legislators are not averse to the idea of forging an alliance with BJP and installing Dr Farooq Abdullah as the Chief Minister. |
