Kotranka family's 14-yr struggle for ration card | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Feb 5: In times of E-governance, a poor family has been struggling to get a ration card for the last more than 14 years in Kotranka tehsil in Rajouri district. As per government direction the ration card should be made available to the beneficiary within one month time. Ration Card is a must for every citizen in India. It is issued by the State Government to the individuals. Ration Card is an important proof of ID for the people to get the subsidy on rice, sugar, grains etc. It is the main address proof accepted by all. Farooq Ahmed resident of Kotranka has been running from pillar to post for the last more than 14 years to get ration card for his family. Farooq has warned of sitting on hunger strike along with his family members before the office of Tehsildar. He said about 14 years ago he came to tehsil headquarter at Kotranka from his Chambi Trar village also under Kotranka tehsil in search of job to feed his family. Since then during day time he is working as laborer and at night he is performing duty of Chowkidar at Kotranka bazaar and feeding the family. "For the last 14 years I am in contact with the CAPD officials for the preparation of Ration Card and even during 2011 census the family was registered at Kotranka. But despite every efforts no ration card was issued in my favur and I am forced to purchase ration at higher prices from open market" said Farooq Ahmed. When contacted Sukhpal Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kotrnka said, "The individual should have contacted the senior officers for the mitigation of his problem. I am not aware about the matter and within next few days I will verify the matter". |
