Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Feb 10: After a gap of one year traders from Srinagar and Muzaffarabad today met at Aman Sethu Bridge under tight security arrangements, near Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri area of this district in North Kashmir. During the meeting seven resolutions were presented. Sources said that the meeting continued for almost two hours in which the traders on either side of the LoC exchanged their views related to their business. Following the meeting traders put forth eight conditions before the governments of India and Pakistan. "Traders staged a protest against the governments, as they alleged that the people at helm in both the countries have put the traders on toes in the winter months. There were no proper heating arrangements with the result there could be a negative impact of trade on both the side of Line of Control (LoC)," said sources. The meeting was held in presence of Director General Travel and Trade Authority, Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), Brigadier Imtiyaz Ahmad, Director Colonel Shahid Ahmad, TFO Tahir Qazmi, Joint Director Industries Mohammad Ashraf, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Yasha Mudgal and TFO Uri. Vice president of J&K Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries Mahmood Ahmad Dar, Aijaz Ahmad Mir, Anjum Zaman, Raja Rashid, Tariq Khan, Hilal Ahmad Turki, Iqbal Lone and others were also present in the meeting. "Traders presented seven resolutions to both the countries including that the other roads should be opened from both the sides for hassle free trade. The resolutions also read that relations from both the sides should be made soft so that the common masses of both the countries can travel freely and there should be a threadbare discussion on trade list so that the items can be enhanced," sources said. Sources further said that the traders from both sides should be given multiple perments so that they can do marketing of their products at their own. They demanded that the bus service should be run on daily basis and permission should be given to Kashmiris from across the LoC so that there could be benefits to the tourism industry. "After every month there should be a meeting of traders so that their issues could be settled in time. The traders should be given a permission of all items on which India and Pakistan has banned in 2008, and there should be full body scanners of trucks so that the trade can take place without any obstacle," sources added. |
