PDD's failure to provide power costs industrialist dearly | | | Bijay Charak
Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 11: On the hind side of Prime Minister's Make in India claims to trigger country's industrial sector, failure of Power Development Department (PDD) to sanction power connections to new industrial units is causing huge losses to them. Pleading anonymity, an owner of newly established unit in SIDCO Bari Brahmana area told Early Times that two years back he had started the construction work of their unit and then he had applied for power connection in Shastri Nagar Division of PDD, but the department has so far not allotted the power connection. "Several other unit holder of SIDCO Bari Brahmana area including Saraswati Plasto Tech India, Jai Enterprises and Modren Pro Pack had applied for new power connection", they said, adding that another seven unit holders including Saraswati Agro Chemicals India Pvt. Ltd, Saraswati Plasto Tech India Pvt Ltd, Sudershan Profile, Trikuta Steel Rolling Mill, Star Tanks, Modern Plasic tubes and Crystal crop Protecion Pvt Ltd had applied for additional load but the lackadaisical approach of higher authority of PDD, all files are biting dust in Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) office Shastri Nagar Division. They further said that many such small, but aspiring industrialists who have set up their units under self employment schemes have been frustrated by the lackadaisical approach of the PDD that has failed to provide them power connections, which is basic requirement of an industrial unit. "Our loans liabilities are swelling and production has either not started or units are working on generators, making them economically unviable" said proprietor of another unit. It is pertinent to mention that despite the Government order No.152-PDD of 2011 dated 28-04-2011 wherein the Government had directed the department concerned to hold regular meetings for the sanction of new connection and additional load of the industrial units, nothing had happened. Repeated calls to Development Commissioner Power, Javed Ahmed failed to evoke any response. |
