CEO finds academic standard in most schools at lowest ebb | | | Early Times Report rajouri, Feb 11: The academic standard in most of the Government Middle and Primary Schools, whether functioning in rural or in urban areas, have been found below average by the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri whenever he had paid surprise visits. In most of the cases following the students failure to answer/solve simple questions/ mathematical equations, CEO Ch Lal Hussain has stopped the salary of the teachers till they satisfied the authorities about the improvement in the academic standard of the students. In most of the school the inspection teams as well as CEO has also found other irregularities including financial as well as teachers attending duties on rotational basis (mutual understanding between teachers appointed inaccessible areas). Officials at many places have also found that most of these teachers remain on unauthorized absent from duties and at the time of final /terminal examination they help the studying by providing copying material to improve their results (subject wise) to get benefits of increments. On Wednesday, students of Government Middle School situated at Tanuni along with their parents held a protest demonstration before the office of Deputy Commissioner alleging that the teachers appointed in the school mostly remain on unauthorized absence and the students suffering in their studies as the final examinations approaching soon. "Ten teachers have been appointed at this school to teach about 150 students. Two teachers mostly remain on unauthorized absence while others have fixed their days in nexus with each other (1or 2 teacher daily)"said Rafiq Ahmed, panch of the village who also accompanied the students. "As per norms/rules maximum 5 teachers and a head master are authorized for middle school. As for as this school is concerned already 11 teachers have been appointed out of which two females have proceeded on Child Care leave and one was adjusted at other places on medical ground. The functioning of the school is above satisfaction. The protest organized don't have any significance and may be politically motivated," said CEO. |
