Banihal, Feb 12 : Routine traffic was resumed partially one way on Jammu -Srinagar highway on Friday after being cleared for traffic following fresh snow fall on highway on both sides of Jawahar tunnel. Earlier traffic was suspended on Thursday also due to landslides triggered at several places due to sudden rains and snowfall. After the fresh snow fall at awahar tunnel, Banihal and Qazigund localities along highway. The slippery condition on road make difficult the vehicles to ploy on highway which forced traffic police to stop the traffic in Banihal and Qazigund. Traffic Police officials in Banihal told Early Times that after clearance from BRO and other NH1A maintenance agencies the suspended traffic was restored at 11:30am on Friday. DySP Traffic National Highway (NH) Banihal, Nihar Ranjan said, "They allowed total of 750 vehicles including 450 load carriers/trucks were allowed to move towards Srinagar." Traffic officials said that the traffic was resumed on highway on one way, however the stranded vehicles on Qazigund were also allowed after evening at about 5pm. "No fresh traffic was allowed from Sringar or Jammu today, he said, adding, "traffic Police cleared the stranded traffic first on Highway and allow them to move towards their destinations. Earlier slippery condition on road across awahartunnel sector and muck near Sherbibi affected normal traffic on highway on Thursday.. |
