Two held with construction material in Pahalgam | | | Anantnag, Feb 12 : Police today claimed to have arrested two persons for ferrying construction material illegally to a hotel in Pahalgam where State High Court has banned raising constructions. Police sources said that a Police team laid a naka at Sarbal Pahalgam and intercepted two private vehicles in which they found construction material including wooden paneling designs. "Both the vehicles including the material which was being ferried illegally to Pahalgam was seized and the duo were detained in police station Pahalgam who admitted that they were carrying the material for their private hotel 'King Palace' located in green belt area of Pahalgam, police sources said. Station House Officer (SHO) Pahalgam Tariq Ahmed Khan identifying the accused as brothers Zubair Naikoo and Shabir Naikoo said that besides panelling designs and plywood they also seized the two vehicles bearing registration number JK03B-960 and JK01M-8515. Police officer said that a case under FIR No 7/2016 u/s 188 RPC stands against accused duo and further investigations are on. Pertinently, J&K High Court has imposed a blanket ban on constructions and renovation in tourist resort Pahalgam. However despite the High Court ban many influential people particularly politicians, bureaucrats and businessmen backed managed to constructs hotels, huts and guest houses. |
