SWD,UNICEF organize training programe on ICP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 12: Social Welfare Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir and UNICEF organized a daylong first ever-training program of District Child Protection Officers in Jammu, today which was attended by District Protection Officers form all districts of Jammu division along with staff from Directorate of Social Welfare Jammu . Social Welfare department under order NO; 31-SWD of 2016 designated all District Social Welfare officers as District Child Protection Officers who will be heading District Child Protection Unit at District level. The training was inaugurated by Sanjeev Verma IAS, Secretary to Government, Social Welfare Department. In his inaugural address, Mr. Verma applauded the team efforts of Department and UNICEF for pushing the roll out of scheme in the state. "It will usher as new dawn for children in Jammu and Kashmir," Verma emphasized. Vandhana Kandhari, gave a technical address to the participants and talked about the mapping of homes done recently in the state. "J&K has a unique context of institutional infrastructure in the state. There is a need to ensure regulation, registration and certification of these homes as per J&K Juvenile Justice Act 2013. Mir Tariq Ali, Special Secretary to Government Social Welfare Department in his opening remarks said that the department was lucky to have a dynamic secretary heading the department and who had made it a mission to ensure that ICPS comes to the state and children benefit form various services which will be provided under the scheme. i Vir JI Hangloo, Director Social Welfare provided vote of thanks and gave assurance to the participant that his team will leave no stone unturned to implement the scheme in the state in letter and sprit. Director Finance, Social Welfare Department, Abdul Majid Butt shared insight about fund flow under the flagship scheme ICPS and highlighted the role and responsibilities of DCPOs. He also extended his vote of thanks to the chair and all partcipants especially organizers of the event. Premoday Khakha and Hilal Bhat, UNICEF J&K took technical sessions on various topics like conceptual background, services, structures and budgetary provision proposed by Govt of Jammu and Kashmir, assisted by Dr. Arshad Jan, Section Officer, Social Welfare Department. The state has already cleared a proposal of 27 crores with the approval of 379 position which wll be filled under ICPS in the state, to implement the JJ Act/Rules across the State. |
