Ex-chairman JKBOSE denied entry for CUJ interview

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Apr 3: A former chairman of the J&K State Board of School Education (BOSE), Nutan Kumar Resutra, was most unceremoniously not allowed to appear in the interview for the posts of Finance Officer and Controller of Examination in the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) although he was shortlisted for this purpose. Interview for the two posts was held on March 29 when the staff of the CUJ turned away Resutra who had reached the place of interview in the CUJ campus in Sainik Colony. The plea taken by the CUJ staff was that he did not carry the mandatory no-objection certificate from his employer.
Five candidates were shortlisted for interview for the post of finance officer and seven for controller of examination. Name of Resutra appeared at serial number 2 of both lists. But he was reportedly not allowed to enter the interview cabin and his pleadings fell in deaf ears.
Later, the interview for the post of finance officer was reportedly cancelled as after turning away Resutra only 2 candidates appeared in the interview.
While Resutra faced embarrassment because of not bringing no-objection certificate, a top officer of the CUJ the next day on March 30 flouted all rules by allowing an ineligible candidate who did not carry the mandatory no-objection letter from his employer to appear in the interview for the post of Public Relations Officer (PRO) . 13 candidates were shortlisted for interview by experts for the post of PRO and reports said that the administrative staff of the CUJ was reluctant to allow one Rajan Badyal to appear in the interview as he did not bring the no-objection certificate, but a top officer flouted all rules and escorted him to the interview board. This particular candidate reportedly does not possess the required experience for the post as he has been an officer assistant in the PRO section of an organization and was given charge of the post of PRO only a couple of months ago while a minimum of 5 years journalistic experience was required for the post in the CUJ.
The interview letters sent to the candidates clearly mentions that the candidates working in any department should get their application forwarded through proper channel or carry the no-objection letter at the time of interview. Sources said that Badyal had fulfilled nothing of the two mandatory requirements.
A senior functionary of the CUJ pointed out that the authorities had wrongly allowed Badyal to appear in the interview. If Badyal was allowed to appear in the interview then how could Resutra be denied entry for not bringing the no-objection certificate.
Various candidates were considering legal options on the issue of this violation.
