Court's order disregarded by BDO Marheen
Execute work on disputed street

Kathua Apr 3: Rural Development department Marheen, despite having hard copy of Court direction for status quo on construction of a disputed street, continued the construction work under Central sponsored scheme MGNERGA.
Violation of court direction triggered massive protest today at Chack Bajeer, Labdhu Panchayat Kahanpur.
The protest was led by Angrez Chand, a prominent who pointed out the construction work that is being performed with mutual understanding of Sarpanch and Village Level worker, VLW duly backed by BDO Marheen Vijay Kumar with the aim to squandering government fund before ending of this financial year.
Chand informed that few people approached Court due to land dispute and sub-standard concrete materials are being used by the department besides without brought transparency in the work.
Ashok Kumar, a local, said Gram Sewak engaged those workers who are not authorized and without job cards. Kumar informed that the department can't engage laborers without having job cards which is also violations of norms under MGNERGA.
The protesters sought inquiry in the construction work and strict action against tainted officers who performed with the aim to squandering government funds. He wanted know the total project cost of the work, job cards of the labourers and justice in the dispute.
When contacted Gram sewak, Sansar Chand, discarded all allegations and refused to have any knowledge of court direction but he accepted ongoing construction work.
Vijay Kumar, BDO Marheen refused to have knowledge about continuation of construction work and accepted that he telephonically instructed Gram Sewak to stop the work on the basis of court direction.
BDO ensured severe inquiry in the matter if there is any violation of court direction and non-compliance of his order.
