ABVP demands removal of JU VC | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 3: Alleging that the Vice Chancellor (VC) of University of Jammu (JU) is keeping a dictatorial attitude towards the students, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) demanded his immediate removal from the post. Addressing a joint press conference here today at ABVP state office, the Jammu Mahanagar secretary of ABVP Naina Dogra, joint secretary Deepak Gupta and JU convener Pulkit said that the Parishad will launch a state wide agitation if the VC is not removed immediately. Addressing the media persons, Naina Dogra stated that yesterday ABVP activists were peacefully marching towards Jammu University for submitting memorandum to Vice President Hamid Ansari demanding the removal of VC of Jammu University RD Sharma, but Police forcefully stopped them near Bikram Chowk. A large number of ABVP activists were protesting against VC and moving towards JU were brutally lathi charged and detained by a JK Police. Around 13 activists have been injured severely while female students were caught by male police officials, said Naina. She further said, "VC RD Sharma has disrespected Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev by comparing them with Afzal Guru and Yakub Memon and by denying permission to hold blood donation camp inside the campus. His dictatorial activities did not stop here, but he uploaded several posts on his facebook account that student activists in JU campus are against the norms of the university. He has crossed all the limits to be tolerated and now we demand that JU VC should apologize for his act of disrespecting our national heroes and should resign from his post." She also condemned the anti-national slogans raised eby local minister students at NIT Srinagar. Kundan Kashmiri demanded strong and fast action without any delay under law against these anti-national students, so that such ugly and nasty incident do not take place again anywhere in the country. |
