 UDHAMPUR, Apr 3: People here today held a protest against the district administration and Udhampur Municipal Committee (UMC) over the non-illumination of New Bus Stand which, they said, lacks other basic facilities too.
Joined by some shopkeepers, locals gathered at the New Bus Stand and held a demonstration, demanding immediate illumination of the whole area.
Kartar Singh, a shopkeeper, said the New Bus Stand was in a very pathetic condition as the roads leading to it were broken. There was also no facility of drinking water and toilets for passengers, he alleged.
The district administration and UMC had failed to provide basic facilities at the new bus stand, he added.
Another protester said then ULB director Jeet Lal Gupta had on August 20,2015, inaugurated the illumination system at the bus stand, but till date nothing had been done in this regard.
Ramesh Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Vicky, Faqir Ahmed, Sanjay Kumar and Narain Chand also took part in the protest. |
