Bovine smuggling bid foiled, one held | | | Ramban, Apr 16: In its ongoing drive to check bovine smuggling, Banihal police today claimed to have foiled a bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of one smuggler and rescue of the five cattle which were being smuggled illegally towards valley. "Acting on specific information, a police team of police post Jawahar Tunnel laid a naka at Jawahar Tunnel, police sources said, adding, "during naka checking, a Tata Mobile bearing regd no: JK14A-7775 was signalled to stop for checking." Sources said, "On seeing police team, driver of the said vehicle tried to accelerate the vehicle but cops chased the vehicle and intercepted at some distance." "During thorough checking of the vehicle, police recued five bovines and arrested driver of vehicle identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed s/o Abdul Samad Khandey of Ladhwal Morh, Batote, Ramban as he failed to produce any document pertaining to the inter district transportation of animals," police sources added. They said a case under FIR No: 40/2016 u/s 188 RPC, 3 PCA has been registered against the accused at Police Station Banihal. The catch was made by a police team led by Sub Inspector Gurupal Singh incharge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel. |
