Division of State in best interest of Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh | Communal unrest in Valley | | ET Report JAMMU, Apr 16: Things in Kashmir have assumed alarming proportions. On the one hand, Pakistan is exporting terrorists in large numbers to Kashmir to intensify anti-India activities in the Valley and, on the other hand, the vested interests in the Valley, which are also backed by Pakistan, have also joined hands to create volcanic situation there. What has further complicated the situation is the soft approach of certain elements in the civil and police establishments towards secessionists and terrorists and the manner in which the NC and the Congress have started fishing in the troubled waters for political mileage. The situation has climaxed to the point that the supporters of Pakistan and separatists have started attacking CRPF and Army camps as happened on Friday. Intelligence reports suggest that things in Kashmir will further worsen and there is the possibility of separatists and indoctrinated Kashmiri youth attacking more CRPF and Army camps. If this at all happens, the number of casualties would be much more and communal unrest would vitiate the whole atmosphere in the State. Obviously, in the process, Jammu and Ladakh would suffer more losses as the attention of authorities in the State and at the Centre will remain focused on the disturbed and militant and separatist-infested Kashmir Valley, as has been the case since the last four days in the wake of the Handwara incident. The people of Jammu and Ladakh have nothing to do with what has been happening in the Valley. They are fed up with the Kashmiri leadership and their ideology. They want to lead a peaceful and dignified life as proud Indian citizens. But their problem is that there is none in New Delhi to appreciate the ground realities in the State and go in for a scheme that divides the State into three States of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and helps New Delhi to tackle Kashmir more effectively. The division of the State is the only option left to satisfy the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and start negotiations with Kashmiri leaders of all hues, including those who represent the internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus, to find what could satisfy them and their respective constituencies. To continue to link the fate of Jammu and Ladakh with Kashmir would be only to further complicate the situation and help Pakistan to implement its anti-India agenda. The statesmanship demands an immediate division of the State and this is the general view of the people of Jammu and Ladakh and people of rest of the country. |
