JAMMU, Apr 16: National Confernce President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Saturday exhorted the cadre to close their ranks for meeting challenges confronted to Jammu and Kashmir. "The State is passing through a difficult stage and there is need for a collective effort to steer it to peace and tranquility", Dr Abdullah said while welcoming several prominent activists including a Sarpanch from Nagrota in the party fold at a simple function here. Dr Abdullah recalled the key role played by National Conference during most testing times in making a turnaround in the situation and instilling sense of security and safety among people. "This spirit is needed to be invoked to ensure dignified and secured life for the people across the state", he added. Welcoming the new entrants, the former Chief Minister exuded confidence that with the joining of public-spirited and dedicated people the party will become stronger at grass roots level. "It is incumbent upon workers to reach out to the masses and highlight the policies and programmes of National Conference, which stands for unity and single entity of the State", he said and hoped that the cadre will perform their designated role in bringing about harmony in the state. Sarpanch Sanjeev Singh, Panch Ram Saran besides Surinder Singh, Kehar Singh, Vikram Kumar and Dilawar Hussain were among those who joined National Conference along with their associates in presence of Provincial President and MLA Nagrota Devender Singh Rana and State Vice President Rattan Lal Gupta. Among others present on the occasion included Saraf Singh Nag, Sarpanchs Rameshwar Dutt, Ram Singh, Noor Mohammed, Raj Kumar, Mohammed Sharief, Mohammed Latif besides Ch Murad Ali, Bashir Ahmed, Manzoor Ahmed, Ashok Kumar, Talib Hussain, Randeep Singh, Rajesh Sharma and others. |
