Early Times Report

Srinagar, Apr 16: Twenty seven civilians and 202 security personnel were injured in the last five days of clashes between people and forces in Kupwara district.
IGP Syed Javaid Gilani said 28 civilians were wounded, out of which five succumbed to their injuries.
He was assessing the situation in the district that has been tense for the past few days.
Two civilians were injured at Trehgam, Kupwara, on Saturday during clashes. They have been identified as Yawar Rashid (18), Gowhar Majid (18). They were injured due to pellets and have been admitted in SHMS hospital here.
"16 of the injured who were admitted to the hospitals were discharged after treatment. Six of the injured are recuperating in the hospitals," the IGP said.
Gilani said 202 security personnel, including three SPs and two DSPs, sustained injuries in the clashes.
He said 30 vehicles of police and CRPF also received minor damages during the clashes and three police posts at Langate, Drugmulla and Handwara were also damaged.
Kupwara district has been tense after April 12, following the allegation of molestation of a school girl by an army man, and in subsequent protests five civilians were killed.
Meanwhile, police in a statement said the situation remained largely peaceful across Kashmir today although some stray stone pelting incidents were reported from Gojwara, Soura, Narbal crossing in Srinagar, Barsu in Ganderbal and Trehgam.
"The deployments exercised maximum restraint. Ten persons including eight police and security personnel sustained injuries," the statement said.
