Vajpayee behaved as Cong PM, says Tavleen Singh | BJP's K-policy | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 18: Noted columnist and author Tavleen Singh has come down heavily on BJP veteran and former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and said that he behaved as Congress' Prime Minister. "Atal Behari Vajpayee behaved as Congress' Prime Minister," she told Karan Thapar of India Today the other day. Besides, she tore into his National Security Advisor Late Brijesh Mishra, saying he was not fit for the job as he was a diplomat and not strategic affairs expert and that he only messed up things. She also criticized Vajpayee's Kashmir policy as well as Pakistan policy and vindicated all those concerned Indians who had been saying since years that the Indian state was enemy of its own people. "The state is enemy of its own people," she told and stuck to her point and went to the extent of saying that it was none other than Vajpayee who helped and saved AICC president Sonia Gandhi in the multi-crore Bofors scam. Indeed, Tavleen Singh hit the nail on the head by saying what she said about Vajpayee and his incompetent National Security Advisor. Both Vajpayee and Mishra had left no stone unturned to muddy the Indian waters in the state. While Vajpayee's Kashmir and Pakistan policy was no different from that of the Congress party and he was more than willing to accommodate Pakistani view on J&K, Mishra had publicly admitted that "he and the BJP had been working for years to get restored the pre-1953 politico-constitutional status to J&K". And remember, Mishra had said so in the presence of NC leader Omar Abdullah and AHPC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in response to the question put by Burkha Dutt of NDTV 24X7 and the J&K BJP's then chief spokesperson Prof Hari Om had held a press conference to lambast Mishra and his statements on Pakistan and J&K. As for Vajpayee, he had not only declared in Kashmir itself even before becoming Prime Minister that "Article 370 shall always remain a permanent part of the Indian Constitution" but had also authorized his Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh to engage with Pakistan to find out a way that ended the so-called Kashmir problem. It is a different issue that the people of India booted the Vajpayee-led ragtag NDA Government in 2004. Had Vajpayee got another mandate, the story of J&K today would have been completely different and Jammu and Ladakh would have slaves of Kashmir on a permanent basis. The fact of the matter is that Vajpayee was willing to sacrifice the minorities in the state - the Hindus, the Buddhists and the Sikhs - to please Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists. Credit goes to Tavleen Singh who set the record straight and exposed the BJP and its fake nationalism and fake commitment to the nation. |
