Alert sounded after militant attack on CRPF convoy | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report
srinagar, June 25: Security alert has been sounded in the entire Kashmir valley following the deadly militant attack on CRPF convoy, in which Eight CRPF Jawans died and many others got injured. The authorities also beefed up security in the state especially on the National highway. A top official in the Jammu and Kashmir police said that alert has been sounded in all the districts of the valley for probable militant attacks and the suspicious vehicles are thoroughly checked on National Highway and other important places. Police sources told Early Times that there are reports that two militants run away towards Srinagar from the Pampore in a white Maruti car after the attack. "To avoid any other attack, additional reinforcements have been deployed for checking the vehicles" said police sources and added that the police have also briefed respective police stations on the highway to keep a watch on suspicious movements and take other security measures as per orders. Sources said that the police have beefed up security along all major areas of the valley to curb any more possible terror attack. Meanwhile security has also been beefed up in entire Jammu and Kashmir and additional security has been put in strategic locations. Reports said that the security forces have been asked by the top police officials to check the vehicles at different points on highway with the help of dog squads to rule out the possibility of any militant attacks. Police sources said that security has also been beefed up in district headquarters and all top police officials has been asked to remain vigilant and stationed in their respective areas. It is to mention here that in the recent past many incidents of militant attacks took place on the highway in which they targeted the security forces. Meanwhile top sources told Early Times that soon after the attack on CRPF, the government asked the security forces to chalk out an immediate strategy to modify security set up on highways. "Directions from the state's home department have been passed to the Security agencies for immediate modification of the security set up of national highways," sources said. |
