Anantnag by polls, Randhir congratulates Mufti | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 25:Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP Chief J&K state congratulated Mehbboba Mufti over her phenomenal victory in Anantnag by poll by 12000 votes and returned to the Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly for a fourth term. According to press release, Singh said that Mehbooba secured 17,701 votes against her nearest rival and Congress candidate Hilal Ahmad Shah's 5,616 votes. National Conference candidate Iftikhar Misger was a distant third, polling 2,811 votes only. She was among eight candidates in the by-election for the assembly seat which fell vacant after the death of her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the incumbent MLA and then chief minister. Singh said that major credit goes to her Late father Mufti Mohd Sayeed who was the main architect to oust family rule of Shiekh Mohd Abdullah who ruled the state for three generations which totally polluted the political atmosphere in the state and made the state the most corrupt state in the country. |
