Locals demand hike in quota of 'Sugar' | | | Early Times Report
Banihal, June 25: Asserting the Consumers Affairs and Public Distribution Department (CA&PD ) is distributing meager 500 grams of sugar per member of the family which is quite low quantity, the locals today have appealed the concerned minister to hike the said quota. While talking to Early Times outside a Govt Ration Depot, some registered rationees complained that the department is allotting a very low quantity of sugar to them which is not enough for a family. They said that 500 grams of sugar for one family member for one month is a very less quantity. They said that first the department released the sugar quota after a long time but the quantity which they allotted is really a joke to the consumers. One of the consumer said that during the holy month of Ramadan, the consumption of sugar is increased and majority of the registered consumers belong to BPL families and they are forced to purchase sugar from open market for their day to day chores which is a costly affair for many of them. Local have appealed to the CA&PD Minister Ch.Zulfkar Ali and concerned higher authorities of the CA&PD department to kindly see the matter and announce hike in the quantity of sugar to the consumers so they cannot suffer anymore. |
