Agitated over alleged inaction against flesh trade, drug mafia, locals block highway | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 28: To lodge protest against failure of the authorities to put a curb upon immoral activities of anti-social elements in their areas, residents of Qasim Nagar, Rajiv Nagar and adjoining localities today staged a protest demonstration. The angry residents assembled at Narwal main road and blocked Jammu-Srinagar National Highway at Narwal for hours together. Residents alleged that authorities were repeatedly informed about immoral activities of some females of Qasim Nagar, who allegedly are involved in flesh trading and supply of drugs but all went in vain till date. Residents publically named three women (names withheld) all presently residents of Qasim Nagar alleged that these women with the connivance of some influential in the administration have been involved in immoral activities and thus no action has been taken against so far. They also alleged recently a youth of Rajiv Nagar has lost his life due to over dose of the drug but no action has been taken against the drug peddlers and those involved in flesh trade. Protesters said unchecked misdeeds of such females sending very wrong message among younger generation of the localities. Panna Lal, Sr Dalbir Singh, Samitri Devi, yashpal , Rattan Chand, Rakesh kumar, Gopal Dass , Paramjeet and Santosh kumar from protestors told media persons that they were forced to stage protest to draw attention of the authorities towards misdeeds of alleged unholy nexus and demanded strict action against those who are involved and patronizing such illegal activities. The agitating residents lifted the blocked on the Highway only after Superintendent of Police (SP) South Sehzad Salaria visited the spot and assured them that strict action will be taken against those who were found involved in anti social activities. |
