Militants snatch rifle from BJP man's house in Budgam | | | Javaid Naikoo

Srinagar, June 28: Militants on Tuesday decamped with a service rifle of one Personal Security Officer (PSO) of BJP leader in central District Budgam after they barged in his house this morning. Sources told Early Times that around six militants who had covered their faces entered in the house of BJP leader Ghulam Mohammad Chopan of central Kashmir's Budgam District and overpowered his security guard, Bashir Ahmad Hanjura and snatched one AK-56 rifle, two magazines and some rounds from him. Official sources said that constable Bashir bearing belt number 283/ security, at the time of incident was with BJP leader at his Gori Mohalla Panzan Chadoora residence when militants overpowered him and snatched weapon from him during duty hours Sources said that incident occurred at around 9:25 am today morning and militants after snatching the service rifle from the security guard managed to flee from the spot. BJP leader Chopan had unsuccessfully contested the 2014 Assembly elections from Chrar-i-Sharief constituency of Central Kashmir. Official sources said that as the news about this incident broke out senior officers from police including SP Budgam, SDPO, SHO and some officers from CRPF and army reached the spot to assess the situation. A case has been registered in this regard and constable has been placed under while further investigations have been taken up. Official sources said that all the entry and exit points leading to the village where this incident happened today has been sealed and massive searches has been launched to locate the gunmen who decamped with the rifle. This fresh weapon snatching incident has occurred three days after two Pakistan based militants of banned Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit attacked a CRPF bus and killed eight CRPF personals on Srinagar-Jammu.
