Curfew, restrictions continue to foil "Azadi Road Show" | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 20: Even though the government said curfew will continue in Srinagar district including Anantnag and Pampore towns only and restrictions elsewhere, life remained crippled for the 43rd day in the Kashmir valley, where separatists had called for "Azadi Road Show" today. Meanwhile, due to imposition of day and night curfew restrictions for the past few days, people in Srinagar complained of worst shortage of essentials, particularly milk, baby food, bread and fresh vegetables though residents are now trying to help each other. Officials said that curfew will continue in Srinagar and Anantnag and Pampore while restrictions on assembly of people under Section 144 CrPC will remain inforce elsewhere in the valley, where people defied restrictions yesterday and clashed with security forces at 21 places. Dozens of people were injured after security forces fired pellets and burst teargas shells to disperse the demonstrators in the valley. However, today the separatists had given a call for " Azadi Road Show" on two-wheelers and bicycles and on foot from their respective areas to district headquarters and hold sit-in if stopped by security forces till evening. However, there will be relaxation in strike today also from 1800 hrs till 0600 hrs next morning, a fresh calendar issued by the separatists said urging people to resume business activities during the relaxation period only. |
