Two notorious bike lifters arrested, 16 motorbikes recovered | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 20: Claiming to have busted bike lifters gang, Jammu Police today said that it has arrested two notorious bike lifters under Operation Chetak and also recovered 16 stolen motorcycles on their disclosures. While briefing a media conference here this evening, SSP Jammu Dr. Sunil Gupta said that under Operation Chetak launched by police, a team was constituted to recover motor vehicles stolen from different Police Stations of Sub-Division RS Pura under the supervision of S Harjeet Singh SDPO RS Pura and RC Kotwal, SP Headquarters Jammu." SSP Jammu added that a team headed by Inspector Bushan Singh Mannas SHO, RS Pura assisted by SI Askar Hussain and police officials from RS Pura police station arrested two suspects namely Vickey Kumar son of Jeet Raj of Kothey Bure De RS Pura and Vishal Kumar son of Romesh Lai of Talli Morh Miran Sahib." "During sustained questioning of the above mentioned duo suspects disclosed their involvement in different MV theft cases of district Jammu & district Samba", said SSP Jammu, further adding, "on their disclosures, the Police team succeeded to recover 16 motorcycles of different companies stolen from different locations of Jammu and Samba valuing approximately Rs 8 Lakhs. Senior Police official said, "In this way, the Police of sub-division RS Pura solved 09 MV theft cases i.e 07 cases registered at Police Station RS Pura, 01 case each of Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and Police Station Ramgarh of district Samba. "The investigation is in progress and more recoveries are expected, he said. "District Police Jammu under the aegis of Operation Chetak is determined to solve many more cases of MV theft, he said, adding, "General public is requested to visit our Facebook Page of Anti Vehicle Theft and Recovery (AVTAR) Team." |
