HC asks Govt to ensure supply of essentials, seeks report of victims | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 20: The J&K High Court Srinagar wing on Saturday directed government to ensure supply of essential commodities in the Valley and also directed it to give details of the number of persons admitted in all hospitals on each day, treatment taken by them and the date of their discharge since July 9. A Division Bench comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey also directed the government to file its response to the Public Interest Litigation filed by the Kashmir High Court Association, seeking an immediate ban on the use of pellet guns in the Valley. The Advocate General submitted 443 patients with pellet injuries 'proceeded' to SMHS Hospital from July 9-Aug 15. Regarding Bone and Joint Hospital, he said 24 patients were admitted and subsequently discharged till August 17. Howecver Bar Association's counsel submitted that the information furnished was incomplete as the details did not reflect the daywise details about the number of patients admitted on each day and their hospitalization. On this Court directed the Advocate General to file the present status report regarding the number of persons admitted on each day, treatment taken and other details. It also directed to file the response in the main PIL by the next date on September 6. The bench also directed government to ensure supply of the essentials to the public wherever the restrictions were in force. |
