After threatening politicians, cops; Separatists ask people to 'attack' employees | Is Kashmir heading towards civil war? | | Early Times Report jammu, Aug 27: After threatening policemen and politicians, separatists have trained their guns towards the employees of Radio Kashmir, Doordarshan Kendra and the government run Information department. The employees of these departments are worried as the separatists have asked people to block all the roads leading to the offices of DDK, Information Department and Radio Kashmir on September 1. In the recent protest calendar separatists had described these vital organs of the government as "propaganda machinery" and had launched a veiled attack on the officials of these departments by describing them as a part of the "propaganda machinery." An analyst said, "Since the day separatists launched a tirade against the politicians and policemen militants have tried attacking them. Militants attacked the residence of the minister in uptown area while activists of many mainstream parties were forced to tender their resignation. Even the policemen have been attacked by the militants and a few of them have lost their lives too." A Kashmir watcher said, "Separatists are playing a dangerous game by pitting people against each other. Kashmir is heading towards a civil war as separatists are trying to pit once section of the society against another." Sources said that employees of these departments are worried about their safety and apprehend that they could be attacked. "Employees of Radio Kashmir have sent a letter to Divisional Commissioner and asked him to provide adequate security to them in view of the threats being issued by the separatists," sources added. They said, "Separatists are following a multipronged strategy to keep the pot boiling. On one hand they are issuing protest calendars, while on the other hand they are trying to pit people against each other. The miscreants who are ruling the streets don't allow vehicles to move. They (miscreants) are threatening the shopkeepers and have placed big poles and trees on the roads to ensure that people remain locked in their homes." It's in place to mention here that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti has repeatedly said that only 5% people are involved in this entire "unrest drama" and they have taken 95% people hostage. A source said, "A section of society which comprises more than 90 percent of Kashmir society are fed up of the diktats being issued by the separatists. They have kept their fingers crossed and are waiting to resume their daily chores. The government agencies are making all the possible attempts to save the situation from taking an ugly turn and prevent the present Kashmir unrest from turning into a civil war." He claimed that security around DDK, Radio Kashmir and Information Department has been beefed up and the employees have been reassured about their safety. |
