Valley row: Police assures 'business community' of full security after threat of 'social boycott' | | | Early Times Report kishtwar, Aug 27: Following the threat from Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo about social boycott of all those shopkeepers who did not follow the shutdown call given by the Majlis-e-Shora in support of Kashmiri people, the Kishtwar police today reached out to business community of Kishtwar and assured them full security and support. Here it needs to mention that Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo has threatened social boycott of all those shopkeepers who did not follow the shutdown call given by the Majlis-e-Shora in retaliation to ongoing Kashmir unrest. As per the details available with "Early Times", SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir along with Additional SP Kishtwar Abdul Qayoom, DySP Ops Irshad Ahanger today held a detail meeting with traders' community of Kishtwar which was organized by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Sameer Jilllani at Police Station Kishtwar. During the meeting, the traders speak out their heart with regard to the losses suffered during frequent uncalled bands and strike calls given by the pro separatist organs and the religious heads. They maintained that shopkeepers reserve the right to follow the shutdown call or not and said none can force the trader to close its business against one's interests/ will. They said that it is not binding on the minority/majority community shopkeepers to close their shops on the shutdown call given by any other religious organization which according to traders is unethical and can vitiate peaceful atmosphere when some miscreants try to enforce the Bandh. Responding to the issues raised by the traders, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Kumar Wazir assured full security to the traders as and whenever they required. He said that sufficient security shall be made available in Kishtwar District to tackle to with those elements trying to enforce the shutdown call. SSP Kishtwar also asked the traders and other business community members to feel free while going ahead with opening of their business units. He also sought the cooperation of traders and general public in maintaining peace and communal harmony. On this occasion, senior police officials brief the participating traders about the sedition laws and its implications added that people are falling prey to these laws by participating in such events that amounts to sedition. They urged upon the participants to aware the people about the sedition laws with an appeal not to fall prey to such elements. Among the prominent who attended the meeting include Ishtaq Waza, Baby Bhandari, Mansoor Mattoo, Puran Chand, Sadat Dar, Ashok Bhandari, Deepak Sharma, Mohammad Rafi and others Pertinent to mention that in his sermon on Friday prayers, Imam Jamia Masjid Kishtwar Farooq Ahmed Kichloo has stated that some shops didn't observe bandh during Wednesday shutdown called by the Majlis-e-Shora Kishtwar to condemn the killings of innocent civilians killings in Kashmir and issued a social boycott of all those shopkeepers. He asked the people to follow the decision of Majlis-e-Shora added that all the shutdown calls were issued after taking everything in consideration. |
