Muzaffar Wani's meeting with Sri Sri creates flutters in Kashmir | From Tral to Bengaluru | | Jehangir Rashid
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Aug 28: The meeting of Muzaffar Wani, father of slain Hizbul Mujahideen Commander, Burhan Muzaffar Wani with spiritual personality Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has created flutters in the political circles in Kashmir with some people attaching many connotations to this meeting. Muzaffar had met the spiritual personality at his ashram at Bengaluru and he stayed at the ashram for two days. He claims that he advised Sri Sri to impress upon Government of India to carry out multilateral dialogue so that the Kashmir issue is solved. Muzaffar who is a higher secondary principal says that no politics should be attached with his meeting with the spiritual personality. Political analysts question the timing of Muzaffar with Sri Sri saying that this has created doubts among the minds of people of Kashmir. The meeting has taken place at a time when the Kashmir valley is on boil following the killing of Burhan in an encounter with security forces at Bemdoora-Kokernag in South Kashmir's Anantnag district on July 8. So far 70 persons including some policemen have been killed in street protests that broke out following Burhan's killing. "The meeting of Muzaffar with Sri Sri is not an insignificant event and as such cannot be buried under carpet," said the political analysts. Muzaffar is a resident of Tral in South Kashmir's Pulwama district and the area is on boil since the evening of July 8. One fails to understand how he established contact with Sri Sri with the same culminating in a meeting at the Sri Sri's ashram at Bengaluru. This is a question which can be answered by Muzaffar. Muzaffar while talking to the correspondent of a local news agency said that he had gone for treatment to Sri Sri Rama (Ayurvedic) hospital Bengaluru. He said that he preferred to spend time in ashram than in a hospital just for the purpose of the security of his life. "I incidentally had an opportunity to talk to Hindu influential spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the ashram. Sri Sri had also condoled the death of Burhan on the very first day. He asked me to suggest something for restoration of peace in Kashmir. Just in my individual capacity I advised him to impress upon the central government to initiate a multilateral dialogue with Pakistan, Hurriyat Conference and the representatives of Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh regions of the Jammu & Kashmir state," said Muzaffar |
