26 hours to Kashmir, paltry 3 to Jammu | All-party delegation | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 2: Union home Minister Rajnath Singh, who paid two visits to Kashmir to conciliate the Kashmiri Muslims-in-revolt and returned empty handed, will again visit Kashmir for two days on September 4 and 5. But this time as leader of the 35-member all-party delegation. He will also visit Jammu. Earlier, he had only visited Kashmir and left the people of Jammu and Ladakh high and dry, thus indicating the New Delhi's indifferent attitude towards these two regions and the neglected people these two regions house. Reports suggest that the Union Home Ministry had excluded Jammu from the tour propramme even this time, but because of the intervention of some BJP leaders, the ministry agreed to send the delegation to Jammu as well but on its way back to Delhi. Rajnath Singh will reach Srinagar at 10 a.m. on September 4 and he and the members of delegation would stay put there for more than 26 hours - from 10 a.m. on September 4 to 12noonon September 5 - and will spent three to four hours in Jammu on September 5 between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. The delegation will meet Kashmiri delegations in Srinagar on September 4 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on September 5 between 2 to 5 p.m. and will meet representatives of all political parties and groups between 2 to 5 p.m. All this shows that the BJP has no regard for its own constituency in Jammu and that it, like other political parties, is concerned more with Kashmir and Kashmiri people, barring Kashmiri Hindus. The delegation should have spent more time in the ignored, marginalized Jammu as it houses nearly 20 lakh refugees from Pakistan, Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir and Kashmir Valley itself - all victims of jihad and two-nation theory, but it thought otherwise only to taunt the people of Jammu province. The people of Jammu and Ladakh are watching everything and scrutinizing everything. There is no doubt that they will avenge their humiliations the moment they got an opportunity and the opportunity could come anytime.
