Jammu, Sept 2: The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which got blocked due to a landslide triggered by heavy rain, has been thrown open for the vehicular movement, an official here today said. "The restoration work was expedited with the help of men and machinery of Border Roads Organisation (BRO), who remained on job and cleared the landslide hit Kheri area in Uhdmapur district following which the Jammu-Srinagar national highway thrown open for the movement of all types of vehicles," Sanjay Kotwal, SSP Highway here told UNI. Mr Kotwal said that the traffic resumed on the highway late last night and there is no vehicle stranded, adding, "the vehicles including private, commercial and trucks were allowed to proceed to their destinations both ways". A hillock slid down last evening, blocked the 300-km national highway with muck and debris near Kheri. Kheri is one of the major landslide prone areas on the highway. |
