No other business except for extending shut down dates | | | As if Kashmiri separatists face scarcity of issues and ideas they keep on ex tending the dates for shutdown and protests in the valley. It has been going on since July 8 when militant commander, Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter with the security forces. Since then over 70 deaths have taken place and several thousand people including 3,000 security personnel have been injured. Scores of people have been left blinded by one eye after they received an injury in pellet gun firing. And the thirst for blood on the part of separatists has not been satiated. How many people need to be killed and wounded before the separatists decide to call off their shutdown and protests. Had the situation remained confined to peaceful demonstrations and protest rallies one would have thanked separatists. But during the shutdowns incidents of violence in the shape of clashes with the security forces do take place. May get injured on a daily basis. Now that the separatists have extended the period of shutdowns till September 8 one would expect many killings and Injuries to innocent people The separatist leaders have extended the strike call up to September 8 and called on people to occupy the Airport Road, Lal Chowk and district headquarters on September 3 and 4.The united separatist leadership issued a fresh weekly "protest calendar" and extended the strike, which has been in force in Valley from last 55 days, upto September 8.On September 2, people should take Azadi march from every mohalla, village and locality towards respective Tehsil Headquarters. There would be no relaxation in shutdown in the evening. They have asked people to occupy the Airport Road, Lal Chowk and district headquarters on September 3 and 4. "People should stage protests and carry placards and banners with messages "We want Freedom" and "Go India Go Back. People should offer Zuhar and Asar prayers on roads. People should play Islamic and Azadi taranas in mosques throughout the day, especially along Srinagar Airport road. There will be relaxation in curfew from 6 pm to 6 am on both the days". On September 5, people should organize Azadi convention in their respective areas from 11 am to 4 pm and deliberate and discuss ways and means to strengthen the ongoing struggle. There would be no evening relaxation in shutdown on the day," they said. According to the protest calendar, there would be relaxation in shutdown from 6 pm to 6 am on September 6. On the day, women should take out protest ralliesThis means that separatists plan to intensify their agitation during the time members of the All Party delegation are in Kashmir. The All Party delegation plans a two-day visit to Srinagar, beginning on September 4. Have separatiosts been provoked by the announcement that All Party delegation members have no plan to meet those that are on the other side of the fence ? It seems so because of punch they are trying to give to the protest rallies. Once people take to the streets there would be added clashes in various parts of Kashmir which would result in more killings and injuries to several thousand people. Do the separatists expect the All Party Delegation to take its hands of the valley and prevail upon the Government of India to grant "Azadi" to the people? If the separatists harbor such hopes they are mistaken because India was not prepared to give up Kashmir and in this case the entire opposition has backed Modi's stand. |
