Teacher community condemns arbitrary transfer of teachers | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 24: Jammu and Kashmir United School Teachers Association (USTA) on Saturday staged protest demonstration in favour of their demands at Director School Education, Jammu and strongly condemned the arbitrary transfers of teachers, made recently by Director School Education, Jammu. According to press release, the protest was organized under the leadership of Provincial President, Hari Singh. While addressing the protestors, the speakers said, "It is very unfortunate that performance of official, school results, subject specific requirement of schools as well as previous places of postings were not kept in mind while making transfers and alleged that the authorities hoodwinked the teaching community by holding fake transfer melas". They further said that only large number of blue eyed boys/kith and kins of ministers and bureaucrats got suitable posting where as dedicated but hapless masters who were working for last 3 to 5 years in far flung and tedious areas, and once again they got miles away transfer from their residences. Strangely the persons working at a particular place of posting for more than 5 years have not been touched, the reasons best known to the authorities concerned, said Hari Singh. USTA criticized the Director School Education Jammu over refusing to give hearing to the deputation which went to her chamber to submit a memorandum on the issues raised by association in the protest dharna. Association strongly condemns the authoritarian, arrogant, anti-teacher and dictatorial attitude of the officer concerned which is nothing less than an onslaught on the democratic and trade union rights of the employees in general and teachers in particular. |
