Ailing GMCH: Patients wait for weeks to get ST scan done, 2 machines cater to 100 patients daily | | | Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 24: The slackness of administration as well as Health and Medical Education department putting into great risk to patients for providing ST scan tests timely which exposed the non-seriousness of the department towards the patients who visit a lot of hope in the government runs hospitals. The patients Jammu have to wait for weeks to get ST Scan done in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) Jammu due to which patients are facing a lot of problems. However, the officials said due to non-functional of ST scan machines in Chest and Diseases Hospital Jammu for last more than a month, the graph of patients has increased manifold. This correspondent visited GMC&H Jammu where the patients have resentment after getting weeks' long dates for conducting ST scan done. "We visited here for ST scan test as doctor prescribed to start further treatment but after receiving long dates from the authority, the treatment will be delayed, "a patient (Shanti from Nagrota) said - who visited here for conducting test of her abdomen. Another patient Surjeet Singh said after getting long date, he is moving to private centre for conducting the test as he don't want to delay his treatment. The Ministers always claims during public places all medical facilities are available free and all tests are being conducted on time. "After, seeing this, I fed up with the system in government hospitals," he added. Sources within GMC&H told Early Times that the hospital has two ST Scan machines which is catering huge rush of GMC&H along with Chest and Diseases Hospital Jammu resulting the patients are forced to wait a week for get the test done. Due to lack of same facility at district level leads to extra burden of referral patients on the 2 machines. "All the patients visiting Chest and Diseases Hospital Jammu who need the test are being referred to GMC&H," sources said and adding that GMC&H receives more than 8 to 10 patients from other allied hospital CD hospital. Ironically, most of the patients have to wait for more than a week for their turn. |
