PM Modi talks tough in Lucknow | Terror not law and order problem | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Lucknow Dussehra speech must have rattled Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists, who have been using terror to further their sinister agenda. What he said and the manner in which he said no Indian Prime Minister had ever said. He was unsparing; he was unambiguous; and he was straight forward. He was sending a strong message to those who indulge in terror-related activities. "War against terror and those who support and give shelter to terrorists has begun. The menace of terrorism has to be ended and terrorists wherever they are and whosoever must not be spared," he said, adding that the "terrorism is not a law and order problem. Terrorism is terrorism and it is something very dangerous and it has to be tackled". That he said terrorism was not a law and order problem should establish that he has finally realized that terrorism was being used to spread a particular type of ideology. PM Modi didn't stop just there. He further said that India was the land of Buddha and non-violence but sometimes circumstances made war imperative. "Sometimes war becomes inevitable because of certain situations and circumstances," he said. His speech was very meaningful. He didn't name Pakistan but made it loud and clear that India will not eschew war in case it was needed. It was a direct hint that if Pakistan didn't mend its ways, India would not only conduct more surgical strikes but even go in for a war to protect the national unity. Similarly, he didn't name Kashmir and those who were taking recourse to terror tactics to break India, but he made it loud and clear that his government would be after them and controvert their pernicious influence on the state and the society. That what PM Modi said at Lucknow about the scourge of terrorism didn't go well with Pakistan and Kashmir could be seen from the fact that his speech, which was widely published in the Indian press and given prominence by all the news channels, did find any space in the print media. Indeed, his speech has rattled Pakistan and Kashmiri separatists. |
