Army foils an infiltration bid in Tangdhar, searches on | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Oct 12: Army claimed to have foiled an infiltration bid by militants in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir on Wednesday. Meanwhile security forces have launched massive search operations in the target area. "Terrorists' movement was observed by the Army along the Line of Control following which a gun battle ensued when the infiltrators were challenged by the security forces. According to sources, a group of 3-4 terrorists were spotted today in the forests of Hajinar in Tangdhar area, after which the whole area was cordoned. "The Hajinar is densely vegetated area which provides ample advantage to the armed intruders to hide, thus a heavy contingent of security forces has launched search operations, the sources told Early Times. They said a massive search operation has been also launched in Nowgam sector of Handwara in Kupwara district of North Kashmir. "The searches were on till last reports came, meanwhile further details were awaited, said official sources. Pertinent to mention that atleast four terrorists were killed by security forces during infiltration bids in Naugam sector last week while they were trying to sneak into the Valley from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir to accomplish their evil designs. The robust counter infiltration grid was immediately put in place to pick up the movements of terrorists and there is a constant surveillance so that the infiltrators will be pushed back to the other side of LoC. Here it also needs to mention that in the recent past security forces have foiled several infiltration bids across the north Kashmir. |
