Shiv Khori shrine to have chopper service soon for pilgrims | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 12: Six years after 2010 landslides that caused heavy damage to the helipad, Shiv Khori shrine in Ransoo village near Reasi will again have a chopper service for pilgrims from Katra town. Disclosing this, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Ravinder Kumar said that construction of helipad, allied infrastructure and the approach road has been complete. Pointing out that the matter will be taken up during the next meeting of the Shiv Khori Shrine Board, he said that a chopper sortie on trial basis was carried out from Katra to Shiv Khori helipad recently and it covered the distance in 12 minutes. Earlier, the helicopter service between Katra to Shiv Khori was stopped in 2010 following landslides which caused extensive damage to the track between helipad and the cave shrine. Now, the track has been restored, he added. With this, Shiv Khori will be the second Hindu shrine in Reasi district to have a chopper service from Katra as this facility is already available to pilgrims visiting the Vaishno Devi shrine. Shiv Khori cave is situated nearly 4 kms from Ransoo and it depicts natural formation of Shivlingum, which constantly baths in a milky lime fluid dripping from the ceiling. The cave is also full of natural impression and images of various Hindu deities. |
