| Toilets defunct under India Sulabh scheme | | | Early Times Reoprt
Banihal, Oct 12: The only toilet constructed by Sulabh India limited in Banihal town are non functional after a year of its completion of construction about two decades back.
The non availability of toilet facility in the ever busy Banihal town causes problems to the people especially women who come here in town from villages for some official and personal works.
Non availability of this facility also creates problems to the passengers who travel on Jammu Srinagar highway.
Locals while talking to Early Times said that the MC Banihal has posted a sweeper for the maintenance of this toilet complex in past and now he also leave from there. They said that this toilet complex is about in defunct conditions.
Locals further said that some two years back after the public cry the then DDC Ramban visted Banihal and at that time and had directed to the concerned MC authorities to make functional this important toilet complex with proper water and other facilities.
Locals lamented that after the DDCs direction at that time MC Banihal appointed a sweeper for its maintenance and now it is again in defunct conditions.
They said that one more toilet room constructed by MC Banihal behind the municipal park Banihal is also found locked always.
It is pertinent to mention that the locals of the area many times demanded to the concerned department for construction of more toilets in the town so that people don't suffer more. The concerned officers of the department always said that due to the non availability of space in the market they are unable to construct a toilet complex in the town.
However the MC Banihal is failed to maintain the already constructed toilets in the town. |
