Shortage of potable water reported in remote Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report Bunjwah, Oct 12: Many villages of tehsil Bunjwah in mountainous district Kishtawr have been reportedly facing acute shortage of essential commodities including drinking water supply from past several years, reasons better known to the officials at the helms. Despite tall claim made by Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department in providing hassle free supply of safe drinking water in remote villages of tehsil Bunjwah, the villagers of Dhandan Nai Basti of Panchayat Binoon claimed that they and many other villagers are still living in bone dry conditions lacking water supply. Narrating villagers woes, a local resident of village Dhandan said that a single pipeline was installed by PHE and till day some years ago and the department ironically has failed to repaired the same causing miseries to villagers. Reports said that due to alleged mismanagement of the PHE Department, the water crisis has deepened in various parts of the district Kishtwar including some villages of Tehsil Bunjwah. According to locals in such dry villages which san drinking water facility, they had to travel for 2-3 km to fetch a pail/bucket of drinking water and it has been a routine affair for the people for the last few years courtesy callous approach of the concerned department. They lamented despite so many schemes launched to provide safe drinking water to all Panchayats, our Panchayat is ignored despite being close to tehsil headquarter Bunjwah. Local residents of panchayat Binoon have urged Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar to take stock of situation and direct concerned department to ensure regular water supply to panchayat Binoon and other regions of Bunjwah at an earliest otherwise the villagers will be forced to demonstrate to get their rightful demand to be conceded with. |
