JKBWA seeks 'Special Employment Package' for Batwal Youth | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 12: Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association today held a meeting here at ChackLal Din (nr Gho-Manhassan) in which they sought special employment package for Batwal youths. Speaking on the occasion, Former MLA &Association President Sat Paul Lakhotra said that in 1994, the Government of India with an object to ameliorate the living standard of the rearmost Batwal Community people, had launched an Ethnographic Study to assess their socio, economic and cultural life in the Jammu and Kashmir State. "The field work as laid down by the Planning Commission of India started in about forty villages of Jammu region got completed by the end of April, 1994. Thereafter, the then Deputy Registrar General, India visited the State and exchanged the views with the elite of Batwal Community to explore the ethnographic/ anthropological back ground and other related details and also collected the Survey Report from the Directorate of Census Operations, J&K but even after passage of twenty two years, nothing has been done by the Government for the Batwal Community to uplift it socially and economically", he said. Association members said that the educated youths of the Batwal community despite being educated are hankering for job which is being denied to them by the recruiting agencies and without job they cannot come out of poverty they have been living in. They further said that they also sent a copy of memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh with an appeal to authorise special enlistment of Batwal youths in Para-Military forces functioning under his kind control. |
