Chinese experts oppose sealing of Indo-Pak border | | | China believes that Pakistan is its all fair weather friend and anything that goes against Pakistan's interest would be resisted by China. And this time the plan of India to seal Indo-Pak border by December 2018 seems to have irked the Chinese leaders. And China treats the plan as "irrational" without explaining what is irrational about it. Well China has given a new twist to the Indian plan and says that already reduced trade between the two sides may affect the relations between the two sides. China also believes that sealing of the border may add to the existing level of tension as if India and Pakistan has had promoted cordial ties. Well if India plans to seal the border with Pakistan it wants to do so to check Pakistan from helping groups of militants in crossing into Jammu and Kashmir. An immediate end to infiltration could be a key to peace in Kashmir. India's move to completely seal its border with Pakistan was a "very irrational decision" and would further complicate the India-China relations considering Beijing's "all-weather" strategic ties with Islamabad, a state media report has quoted leading experts as saying. What is amazing is the way China has been following the Islamabad line that has blamed India for accusing Pakistan for Uri attack in which 19 soldiers were killed when the Indian agencies carried out no investigation. And China has simply repeated the Pak statement. India is making a very irrational decision, since no exhaustive investigation has been conducted after the Uri incident, and no evidence proves that Pakistan is behind the attack, Hu Zhiyong, a research fellow from the official think-tank Institute of International Relations of the Shanghai Academy, has said so.. Hu was commenting on Home Minister Rajnath Singh's announcement that the 3,323-km-long border between India and Pakistan would be "completely sealed" by December 2018. A "completely sealed" border would further hinder the already scarce border trade and talks between the two countries, He said. Wang Dehua, director of the Institute for Southern and Central Asian Studies at the Shanghai Municipal Centre for International Studies, said a sealed border would only disrupt peace efforts made by the two sides. Has Pakistan, during the last 27 years, reciprocated India's urge for promoting cordial ties? No it has not. It simply raised the level of infiltration of militants and that has been the essence of proxy war being played by Pakistan against India during the last over 27 years. How then the Chinese experts believe that unsealed border could promote better ties between India and Pakistan? If Pakistan has some problem with the sealed border let it announce that it will stop using the country's soil for exporting terror to India. |
